Mar 11 London: Finding Beauty in the Fog

3, 2, 1, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020!!

I visited this dynamic city for New Years 2020 and am so happy this was one of the last things I did before the pandemic hit Europe!

My Experience in London

There was so much to do and see that I feel like I didn’t even scratch the surface of this wonderful city! Their heritage runs deep as seen throughout the city in different historical sites and with the many long traditions that are upheld here. Every corner, building, and street has a story that will take you back in time.

Buckingham Palace

Administrative headquarters and London residence of the UK’s Royal Family. The main point for congregations involving national celebration and mourning.

Parliament Square Garden

Historic center with statues signifying democratic values. Pictured: Millicent Fawcett, president of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies.

Changing the Guard

A popular event to witness the handover of responsibility of the military security of the Royal Palaces in London.

Friary Court

After the death of a reigning monarch, the council meets here to declare a new monarch and once they take oath, they walk onto the proclamation gallery to make the official announcement.

Around Town

There is so much to see just waking around the city. A river cruise is a great way to see the coastline buildings and the London Eye (giant ferris wheel) is an amazing vantage point of the whole city.

My Final Thoughts

London was an amazing experience! There is so much to do and see. I walked almost everywhere but there is also a good transportation system. Would highly recommend it to anyone considering!
